My first copy fell apart from so much use. This was my welcomed replacement This book "takes it up a notch" for those of us that don't have a lot of time to spend hunting for ingredients, following complex recipes, and spending over one hour cooking. Just what I needed. The receipes are true to the time preperation and it has chef quality taste. I like the dinner options, be sure to have your salad ready to toss as the main course is ready stove to plate in no time. While I had great hopes for this book - I was disappointed when it arrived. The recipes are generally quick and easy but hardly gourmet. Most are very common and appear in many other cookbooks and publications. As a cookbook collector and avid cook, I look for unusual recipes or the use of unusual ingredients/combinations. None in here. While this might be good for beginning cooks - not enough to interest me.

Eggs are a classic Australian breakfast and the perfect start to your day. They’re packed with nutrients and vitamins, are high in protein, and are known to fill you up faster and for longer, so you’re less likely to crave snacks before your next big meal.
Colicchio's short ribs flanken-style in wine marinade; recipe in Food and Wine Magazine database online
Thankfully, the book is organized by principle ingredient or style of dish, these being 'One Dish Dinners', 'Salads for Dinner', 'Stove Top Dishes', Grills, 'Soups', Sandwiches and Burgers', Pastas and Pizzas', Vegetables', 'Grains', Snacks', and 'Desserts'.
Make a batch of quinoa, stash it in the fridge, and have it for breakfast served hot or cold. It’s a great alternative to oats!
This is one of my favorite desserts of all time. It’s also lovely with a cup of tea for breakfast or a mid-afternoon snack. Cashew butter frosting on top of little cashew butter cakes… how can you go wrong? I developed this recipe with a friend about 10 years ago. It’s extremely rich and fattening, but well worth every calorie. This has got to be one of the easiest and most delicious desserts that exists. Many chocolate mousse recipes call for gelatin; not this one! These delicious chocolate-nut candies are easy to make and will keep for two weeks (if they last that long!) A delicious, rich, warm chocolate cake with a hint of peanut butter that tastes even better when served with berry sauce and/or vanilla ice cream. Whether you fill them, top them, or both, sweet crêpes make the ultimate elegant dessert. Once you’ve whipped up the batter, the hardest part is figuring out the perfect combination of fillings and/or toppings for your own personal sweet tooth. Frozen soufflés make a nice, light dessert after a rich meal. This recipe calls for anise-flavored liqueur, but you could use another flavor like orange or hazelnut instead. A vegan version of Milanos®, Pepperidge Farm’s® crisply rich and elegant chocolate sandwich cookies. Make a big batch of vegetarian mincemeat so that you can make a few pies and have some left over to serve with ice cream, custard, pudding, or crêpes. You can also can or freeze it for later. A smooth and creamy peanut butter filling with a dense brownie crust. And it’s vegan! Plum pudding is a traditional Christmas dessert in the UK, and is normally made with suet. Julia Child’s version shows that there’s no reason plum pudding can’t be vegetarian. Sweet, tart, and very "plummy," this plum sorbet is made without an ice cream machine. When you add just the right amount of sugar, rhubarb cobbler is divine – especially for breakfast. Not too sweet, not too tart, strawberry rhubarb pie is one of the best summer desserts. A sweet, creamy blend of pumpkin, tofu, cashews, and banana, topped with candied pecans. If you crave the spiciness of a bloody mary but don’t want the alcohol, try this tasty variation – or make the real thing. Homemade ginger ale is easy to make and much more "gingery" than anything you can buy at the store. Lassi is a sweet Indian drink made from yogurt – it’s perfect for cooling your mouth while eating spicy food. This traditional Spanish drink goes well with spicy foods, is delicious in summer, and works well as a party punch bowl. There’s also a non-alcoholic version that kids will love. When you feel like having something a little more special than plain old juice, try this sparkling juice recipe.
Flavored with banana, peanut butter, oats, quinoa & chocolate, these quinoa breakfast cookies taste like dessert, but are healthy enough for breakfast.

As it happens sometimes, we received a random box of ingredients, this time thanks to the Farmers to Families program. The box included a variety of items that someone defined as household staples. Included were roasted chicken quarters, hot dogs, potatoes, apples, milk, and yogurt. Jack quickly turned out a delicious soup with the chicken, potatoes, and other veggies we had in our fridge. My challenge was the yogurt. I usually make our own yogurt, so we already had more than enough for our regular menu.
Spread inside of 2 pieces of bread with the mayo mixture and the other pieces with honey mustard. Add ham and Swiss cheese on the mustard side, dividing between both sandwiches.
Brie en croûte is an easy and delicious cheese and puff pastry appetizer. It's gorgeous as a cheese board centerpiece, and is a perfect game day appetizer!
