Turns out you can have salad for breakfast, too! Think of this as a deconstructed omelette in a bowl with tender greens, potatoes, and perfectly cooked eggs. Add bacon, cheese, or a slice of toast to round out this veggie-friendly meal.
Some take no work, some may challenge you, some are from my web site, and some are from other great cooking sites. It’s my opinion, if you prepare all the courses as described above and you take my advice as to lighting and music, by the time you get to this dessert it won’t matter what you serve. She will be impressed and appreciate all the effort you have made.

I had just finished re-reading The Tutka Bay Lodge Cookbook and was in the middle of another pastry chef cookbook when the box arrived. I already had Panna Cotta on the brain. I wondered if Panna Cotta could be made with yogurt instead of cream. Panna Cotta is a wonderful gelatinized dessert that can become a delicious canvas for a variety of fruit. The name is derived from Italian and means “cooked cream.” In my experiment, it would be cooked yogurt. So, yes, this is not a true Panna Cotta. My version has the same vanilla bean canvas and the same structure. That’s where the similarity ended.

This salad is reminiscent of something you might find at a seaside bistro, or at an old school New England restaurant. A one-bowl meal, this salad is as refreshing as it is satisfying, and is surprisingly versatile. While you can eat this on its own, consider layering it in pita bread with olives and cheese, or putting it in ‘salad bowls,’ or mixing it with fresh summer greens.

What a wonderful collection of summer recipes! Unfortunately, we haven’t seen summer yet in this part of Canada and this is really affecting my mood. Some of those recipes will bring back a smile to my face, especially the fried zucchini blossoms!! 🙂 .
You can add some steamed/boiled broccoli to the remaining lemon-butter sauce and saute for 2-3 minutes until the broccoli is heated through and covered in delicious lemony brown butter sauce. Prepare your ingredients: Preheat the oven to 450°F. Rinse, dry, and slice the scallions. Peel and finely chop the garlic, ginger, and shallot. Add the shallot to a small bowl with the vinegar. Zest the orange, then, with a knife, peel it and cut it into rounds. Wash and dry the watercress. Trim and peel the parsnips, then thinly slice them into discs. Slice the discs to create matchsticks.
Beef tenderloin is your best option for this, as it’s nice and juicy and not as expensive as fillet mignon.
I tested different dishes and glasses for serving the Panna Cotta including wine glasses and ramekins. I think they all worked beautifully. My breakfast Panna Cotta definitely tasted like a rich vanilla yogurt. But it made for a gorgeous and delicious breakfast presentation – layers of crunchy granola, chewy dried fruit, zippy tart berries, and a drizzle of last summer’s wineberry syrup. The same visual layers can be accomplished in any clear glass if ramekins are not available. With just a bit of chilling time and not too much effort, you too can turn ordinary into extraordinary. 1 1/2 tsp powdered gelatin (1 package)3 cups plain yogurt1/2 cup milk1 tsp vanilla paste2/3 cup granulated sugargranoladried fruitfrozen or fresh berriesberry syrup Posted in Culinary feats | Tagged breakfast recipes, food, gourmet breakfast recipes, photography, recipes, yogurt panna cotta | 2 Replies Choose a topic below and click to see articles from our most popular categories
