It's nicely photographed and a pleasure to look at, however it isn't what I would consider to be a well-rounded book. The emphasis here is on smoothies, yogurt parfaits and a few quick breads and cereals. Foods that can't be sipped or spooned are barely represented. I'm a little bit of an old hippie, so I do have an appreciation for yogurt and granola philosophy that sees to dominate these pages but there is nothing here that I would consider particularly special. If you're the kind of person who likes to savor a chia smoothie while contemplating the sunrise in your peasant shirt and sandals, maybe this book is for you. Pavlova is the perfect light ending to a rich meal. Made with egg whites and sugar, it’s sweet but contains no fat.If you don’t have rosewater, you can substitute vanilla, but the scent and delicate flavor of the rosewater blends beautifully with the berries. And, if you forgot to buy flowers, just tell her that they’re in the dessert! Rosewater is readily available at Indian and Pakistani markets. It is inexpensive, and a little goes a very long way.

They are very easy to make, but they do have to chill in the fridge for a few hours before you cook them, so they require a little bit of forethought, but it's worth it. Also, these don't *need* the spicy mayonnaise dipping sauce I call for in the recipe, but they are seriously improved by it.

A staple of the Southern breakfast table, grits can be eaten with any number of foods, such as fried catfish, country ham, salmon croquettes and bacon and eggs. But it’s the shrimp that is the signature pairing with grits. Traditional to the low country cuisine of the South Carolina and Georgia coasts, you can eat shrimp and grits for lunch or supper too, just be sure to top it all off with a generous pour of hot sauce. The dish even works as a dip.
